Magnolia Bakery opened in 1996 at 401 Bleecker Street in Manhattan's West Village, founded by Jennifer Appel and Allysa Torey. It became famous for its buttercream-swirled cupcakes after appearing on Sex and the City, and its banana pudding is now its best-known dessert.
